Are TV Ads Really Influencing Young Children
www.cbc.caDo you ever sit down and watch cartoons or other kid shows with your children and see a beer commercial or Viagra commercial? Why advertise on those stations unless kids are the target. I know we can’t always provide excuses for the actions of children, but when they are constantly exposed to alcohol, sex and junk food what doyou expect their actions to be? The American Academy of Pediatrics is suggesting the Congress crack down on these TV ads because they say these ads are causing children to have eating disorders and alcohol problems. While I do not know for sure the truth behind their accusations, I do believe that these ads need to quit targeting children! more info >>

Heba Kotb: Talk Show About Islam and Sex
A Muslim woman started a talk show called “Big Talk” that discusses mainly sex in Islam. This is a bold move for two reasons: 1. Sex and Islam is usually not mentioned together and 2. Women normally don’t talk about sex because they were raised to believe sex is for the man. However, despite the fact her topics are uncommon to Arab TV , Heba created this talk show and wants to express to women that they too have the right to enjoy sex. Heba mentions that Islam encourages and expresses this, but that it is a subject not normally mentioned in the Arab world. North Korea’s New Source of Revenue: Insurance Fraud
North Korea, a country that is well known for criminal dealings, is using reinsurance fraud to bring in revenue. Reinsurance is insurance provided to insurance companies by other insurance companies. So when a tragic event, such as Katrina and 9/11, occurs insurers use reinsurance to help pay for the damages. North Korea is using the reinsurance market by filing false claims to get money from other insurance companies throughout the world. These false claims have given North Korea an estimated $150 million. As of now there is not enough hard evidence to take action against North Korea, mostly due to the fact that North Korea’s President, Kim Jong II, and his regime is in full control of all the insurance documents. However, insurers are aware of these claims and are very cautious when dealing with North Korea. more info >>

Another issue is that these spam emails are being created and sent across international borders, and since one country can’t govern the emails being sent from another country it will be almost impossible to stop these gangs from sending more spam emails. more info >>

Over the last century scientists have suggested the global temperature has increased by 1 degree Fahrenheit and will continue to do so. This proposition is just now undergoing research and should determine whether air pollution is a good alternative until something more permanent can be decided on.
